Mrs. Kathy Walker

I have worked in Montvale for 24 years, including 11 at Memorial Elementary School. Prior to receiving my Teaching Certification at Ramapo College, I worked in publishing. In addition to my certification, I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Rowan University (formally Glassboro State). I have taught first (in my hometown of Pompton Lakes), second, and third grades. Now that I am teaching fourth grade Reading and Language Arts, my love of learning and books, is something I bring to the classroom, and believe it shows in my teaching style. I can honestly say, that I learn something new every day with my students!

There is time for a short working snack in the morning. Please send in something your child can eat quickly while they are reading or writing.

Monday - Physical Education (Remember your sneakers!) and Library (Remember your library book!)

Tuesday - Spanish

Wednesday - Art

Thursday - Physical Education (Remember your sneakers!)

Friday - Music

Students are required to read 30 minutes a night, Monday-Thursday, and complete the reading log provided. Occasionally, there will be additional homework requiring students to respond to text in writing. Students may also have a writing assignment from time to time.

Check out my book blog. Is there a book you are reading or have read that your friends would enjoy? Let us know! Remember, the more you practice and do something, the better you get at doing it. Keep and reading and consider keeping a journal at home. You never know when the next story idea or future best seller is around the corner!
